Consolidated Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) - App & Data System
As part of the Province’s efforts to end homelessness, Ontario launched the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI). The CHPI program mandate is to assist service providers in addressing local priorities in order to better meet the needs of individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in their local communities.
Seventyeight Digital was charged with completing the strategic planning, technical architecture, user-interface design, programming and development of a custom application and data system used to administrate the CHPI program in Bruce County.
The CHPI application we developed improves access for the homeless to adequate, suitable and affordable housing that is linked to flexible support services based on peoples’ needs. In addition it provides a comprehensive datasource that can be used to track and evaluate the effectiveness of the overall program as well as provide opportunities for data mining to inform future program optimizations.
Key outcomes for this activation include:
An application that is architected and optimized to ensure robust, secure performance with particular emphasis on data design, data security, and hardening against potential web vulnerabilities.
An application that is constructed using Responsive Web Design (RWD) best practices in order to ensure optimized viewing for users through the device of their choosing - desktop, tablet or smart phone.
Secure, role-based authentication such that the application will only be made accessible to external partner entities and internal administrative staff.
Ability for external community partner organizations to submit applications.
An administrative module providing administrative staff with the ability to review/approve/deny and/or edit data that is submitted by the external partner entities.
Provision of a series of standard and customizable administrative reports available in web, Excel/CSV, and PDF formats.
Structuring the data such that information can be parsed across each data element for business intelligence and custom reporting purposes.
