Billy Bishop Airport is an important international gateway and a key driver to Toronto's economy, accounting for more than $2.1 billion in economic output each year and supporting 6,500 jobs. In 2016, Billy Bishop Airport was named the world's fourth best airport in Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards.

Seventyeight Digital was engaged by the Airport Authority to design and develop a responsive, visually engaging, user-friendly, interactive information and communications hub designed to effectively serve the needs of local, regional and international travellers.

Key outcomes included:

  1. Centralized Development of a modern, dynamic, engaging, visually appealing, clean design - one that complies with existing brand standards.
  2. Optimized UI/UX design to provide streamlined screen layouts and site navigation empowering users to easily complete key tasks with priority given to flight information and status
  3. A site that is architected and constructed using Responsive Web Design (RWD) best practices in order to ensure optimized viewing for users through the device of their choosing - desktop, tablet or smart phone. This was particularly important given the extremely high contingent of travellers accessing information on their mobile devices.
  4. Integration of real-time Air Canada and Porter Airline data feeds into flight status board that provides travellers with advanced browsing, searching and filtering options.
  5. Development of a real-time, geo-based interactive shuttle bus mapping utility.
  6. Integration of airport emergency notifications service and alert messaging module.
  7. A fully bilingual website (French and English) with the ability to expand language options in the future.
  8. A website that adheres to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
